Lena is one of two Master Instructors at The Handle Bar. She has worked with the brand since the start, and manages the auditioning and training program for new instructors working to become a part of the HB instructor team!

Lena hails from San Diego and moved across the country to attend Columbia University in New York City, where she earned her MS in Nutrition & Public Health. After two years in the Big Apple, Lena moved to Boston to complete a dietetic internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and is now a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist at BIDMC, providing medical nutrition therapy to patients in an acute care setting.

Lena spent most of her adolescent years as a competitive athlete in basketball and volleyball. From an early age, she lived for the stage as a performer in musical theatre, competitive show choir, and contemporary collegiate a cappella vocal bands. Combining her athletic abilities with her natural performance talent, Lena found a love for indoor cycling that surpassed all other forms of movement. Through indoor cycling, Lena felt confident, strong, and was able to focus on all the positive qualities within herself.

At The Handle Bar, Lena strives to create this positive energy for her riders and coaches them through their own journey. Lena creates a musically inspired ride where the rhythm and resistance coalesce to challenge your body and build strength from the inside out. She says, “You have the opportunity to create self love, strength and confidence that comes from YOU. Trust your intuition and believe in yourself because you never know when you will have to rely on your own strength.”

favorite post-ride treat?
My own smoothie creation that I like to call "The Lendizzle" (Yes, it's true. I name my own smoothies). 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 small banana, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1 Tbsp peanut butter, and 1 scoop whey protein. BOOM.

what's one thing most people don't know about you?
I randomly went skydiving once in Zephyrhills, Florida by myself...I lost a bet, whoops!

what's your favorite drink?
A refreshing vodka soda with lime and muddled blackberries, a hoppy Imperial IPA, or a crisp New Zealand sauvignon blanc ;)
